Resort fees in 2026: what 1,774 hotels’ own websites say

We read each hotel’s own website, not a booking site’s summary, and recorded the fee in the hotel’s own words with the link and the date. Checked through 20 September 2026.

1,280 of the 1,774 hotels we read did not say either way on their own website, or would not load for us. They are left out of every figure on this page: never counted as a fee, and never as “no fee”. That is why the share above is out of the 494 hotels that answered.

What it adds to a stay

At the median, a three-night stay carries $105 in resort fees before tax, paid on top of the room rate. Most hotels add their local hotel tax to the fee as well. 34 of the 431 stated fees come with a condition (a waiver for longer stays, say, or for booking direct), and 19 hotels name a second nightly charge beside the fee. Both are shown on each hotel’s page.

City by city

Ranked by median stated fee. A city is ranked only when at least 5 of its hotels state a fee, because a median of two hotels describes two hotels, not a city.
