Across the 65 US cities we have read, through October 21, 2026. A hotel counts for a company when its name carries one of the company’s brand names or its fee was read on the company’s own site; a hotel two companies could both claim is counted for neither, and a hotel whose page we could not read is in no figure.

Every company, by its median fee

The median a night, before any tax added on top, of the fees each company’s hotels state on their own pages; the range; and the name most of them give it. Each name opens the company’s guide, with every hotel, its page and the date we read it.

A median is of the hotels we have read, in the cities we have read: Hilton’s hotels are the most read, at 75 stated fees, and a company whose hotels we read are mostly in high-fee cities will read higher than one read mostly elsewhere. It is a fact about the rows, not a statement of any company’s policy.

How a hotel is placed with its company

By its name, where the company’s own naming puts its brand — “Kimpton”, “Royal Sonesta”, “Fairmont” — or by the site its fee was read on, and never by a guess from an address or a price. Some names that look like a brand are not one: “Hilton Head” is an island, and the Omni and Sonesta resorts there are Omni’s and Sonesta’s. A hotel two companies’ rules could both claim is counted for neither.

A vacation club sold under a hotel company’s name is counted with it and said on the company’s page, because the club is often run by another company under license. A hotel whose page we could not read is counted as unconfirmed and is in no figure: a page we could not open has told us nothing about its fee.

Questions people ask

Which hotel company charges the highest resort fee?
Of the companies whose hotels we have read, MGM Resorts’ hotels state the highest median: $52.50 a night across 8 hotels in 2 cities, from $30.00 to $55.00 a night. A median is of the hotels we have read, in the cities we have read, so it says where those hotels are as much as what the company does.
Which hotel company charges the lowest resort fee?
Of the companies whose hotels we have read, Choice’s hotels state the lowest median: $14.98 a night across 6 hotels, from $3.00 to $30.00 a night. The lowest fee is still a fee: a hotel that charges none says so on its own page, and those hotels are listed by city in our guide to hotels without resort fees.
Is the resort fee the same at every hotel of one company?
No. At every company here the fee differs between its hotels, because each hotel sets its own. The widest spread is at Hilton’s hotels: from $12.00 to $60.00 a night.
Why is a hotel company not listed here?
A company is listed once at least 5 of its hotels’ own pages state a fee we could read, the same bar a city needs before we print its median. Below it, a ranking would be ranking a handful of hotels. Every hotel we have read, whoever runs it, is on its city’s page.

The hotels that say they charge no fee are in hotels without resort fees; every figure by city is in the Resort Fee Report, and how we read each fee is on the methodology page.
