Read on the hotels’ own pages through October 10, 2026, in 10 cities. A hotel counts as Sonesta’s when its name carries “Sonesta” or its fee was read on sonesta.com. Another 18 Sonesta hotels in our data could not be confirmed either way; a page we could not read says nothing, so they are in no figure here.

What Sonesta hotels charge, and what they call it

There is no one Sonesta fee: each hotel’s page names and prices its own. The names on the 12 pages that state one are “Destination Fee” (9), “Resort Fee” (2) and “Hotel Facilities Fee” (1).

By the word in the hotel’s own name for it: with “destination” in the name, 9 hotels, from $20.00 to $39.00 a night (median $32.00); with “resort” in the name, 2 hotels, from $30.00 to $40.00 a night; with “facility” in the name, 1 hotel, $42.00 a night, all before any tax added on top.

At Royal Sonesta’s 7 hotels: from $25.00 to $39.00 a night (median $32.00), before any tax added on top; every one calls it the “Destination Fee”.

At Sonesta’s 5 hotels: from $20.00 to $42.00 a night (median $30.00), before any tax added on top; 2 of the 5 call it the “Destination Fee”.

The Allegro Royal Sonesta Hotel Chicago Loop, near the middle of the range, puts it this way on its own page: “Room rates are subject to a daily Destination Fee of $32.00, which includes:”

For a 3-night stay that is from $60.00 to $126.00, $96.00 at the median, before any tax added on top.

What Sonesta hotels say the fee includes

Counted once per hotel, out of the 12 of 12 Sonesta hotels that say what their fee pays for. A hotel that lists nothing has not said its fee pays for nothing, and an item on the list is not a reason to pay it: the fee is the same whether or not you use any of it.

Is tax added to the destination fee?

Of the 12 Sonesta hotels stating a fee, 9 say tax is added on top, 1 says nothing is added on top and 2 do not say. Nothing added on top can mean the figure already includes the tax. Where tax is added, it is the local tax on hotel rooms, charged on the fee as it is on the room.
