NJSTravel vs Expedia

What Expedia’s own pages say about how it orders hotels and who sees which price, next to what we do. Every quote links the page it came from. Where Expedia is better, we say so.

How hotels are ordered

Expedia’s own page

Expedia says what it is paid is one factor among properties with similar offers.

“…we may feature properties that offer more commission or compensation higher…”

NJSTravel

Our default order is “What you actually pay”: cheapest first for the whole stay, including fees paid at the hotel. Our own fee is not an input to how hotels are ordered.

Who sees which price

Expedia’s own page

Expedia offers “personalized savings” to some travelers.

“The pricing was set by an algorithm using your personal data.”

NJSTravel

One price for everybody: no member prices and no prices set from your personal data.

Resort and other hotel fees

The law, for every seller

Under the FTC’s fee rule (16 CFR 464), anyone selling hotel stays in the US must show a total price that includes every mandatory fee. Government taxes may be shown apart.

NJSTravel

Every total includes the fees we know of, as the law requires of everyone. Beyond that: when one of a hotel’s rates leaves out a resort fee its other rates list, we add it as a marked estimate, and we publish what each hotel’s own website says its fee is.

Where Expedia is better

  • Far more places to stay, worldwide; we sell US hotels from one supplier.
  • Guest reviews of its own, a loyalty program and member prices. We have none of them.
  • Flights, cars, packages and things to do in one place.
  • A long track record and apps on every platform. We started in September 2026.

We don’t claim to be cheaper on every booking. Check yours: tell us the hotel, dates and what you paid.
