NJSTravel vs Booking.com
What Booking.com’s own pages say about how it orders hotels and who sees which price, next to what we do. Every quote links the page it came from. Where Booking.com is better, we say so.
How hotels are ordered
Booking.com’s own page
Booking.com’s default order, “Our top picks”, can be influenced by commission, among other things.
“how much commission they pay us on bookings”

NJSTravel
Our default order is “What you actually pay”: cheapest first for the whole stay, including fees paid at the hotel. Our own fee is not an input to how hotels are ordered.
Paid placement
Booking.com’s own page
Its Preferred Partner badge marks properties that pay it more.
“they pay us a higher commission if you make a booking”

NJSTravel
NJSTravel sells no placement and shows no ads in its results.
Resort and other hotel fees
Booking.com’s own page
Booking.com says each price description indicates whether taxes and fees are included.
“The price description indicates whether any taxes and fees are included or excluded.”

NJSTravel
Every total includes the fees we know of, as the law requires of everyone. Beyond that: when one of a hotel’s rates leaves out a resort fee its other rates list, we add it as a marked estimate, and we publish what each hotel’s own website says its fee is.
Where Booking.com is better
- Far more places to stay, worldwide, including homes and apartments.
- Reviews from guests who booked through it, and its Genius loyalty discounts. We have neither.
- A price-match promise on bookings found cheaper elsewhere. Ours covers only desk fees we did not show (the Fee Promise).
- Paying at the property on some stays. We take payment when you book.

We don’t claim to be cheaper on every booking. Check yours: tell us the hotel, dates and what you paid.
